Sometimes my brain truly thinks out of the box. Today was no exception as I addressed graduation cards to a pair of young guys.
What should an 86 year old say to a couple of handsome, tall, talented, great Christians that will not turn them off? I have no idea, but I dug out some photos I had printed for making cards or enclosing in a card.
The second step was to create crazy comments, relating to each photo, that could be considered a possible, silly, next step direction for the young men.
What follows are the six ideas I wrote for six photos.
1. Climb high mountains and send up a balloon with a message attached directed to the Lord.
(Picture of huge cliff in Canyon Land National Park)
2. Join a circus in Africa and train elephants to hand out Christian messages to children visiting their circus. (Picture of elephant, face up close, showing wrinkles)
3. Find a sunny spot to rest with a leopard and write emails and tweets, telling the Lord’s story. (Picture of gorgeous leopard sunning in an African tree)
4. Capture an ancient sailing vessel from museum in Netherlands, load with food and Bibles, and sail the seas, sharing with the needy along the way. (Picture of ancient sailing ship in Amsterdam, Netherland Museum)
5. Model the life of a turtle – Be prepared to “stick your neck out” as you witness a Christian life. (Picture of tiny turtle in the woods)
6. Find a white goose to lead you on the lonely path to others, but one on the straight and narrow road. (Picture of 1 white goose walking down middle of a major street in Springfield, IL)
Well, my guys may enjoy the wee check I included more, but hopefully they will each think about the underling message with each statement.
My reader friends, let your life shine and encourage our youth, in some simple way, to remember the Lord as they move forward in their lives. We have a problem, not just in the USA, but throughout the world. Teens and young adults are just not staying active with their friendship with the Lord.
We better get busy now.
